GOAL – Go Out and Learn GOAL

User guide

How to use the GOAL platform — step by step, for learners.

This guide takes you from your first click to tracking your own progress. No technical knowledge required: if you can open a web page, you already know enough.

1. What the GOAL platform is

GOAL is a free educational platform with online courses organised into modules and lessons, with video materials and downloadable files.

Good to know from the start: all published content is freely accessible — you do not need an account to watch the lessons. A free account brings a single but valuable benefit: the platform remembers where you left off in each lesson and marks the lessons you have completed.

On the home page you will find the current course campaign and a selection of online courses in the “Featured courses” section.

2. Language, theme and navigation

The platform works in any modern browser, on a computer, tablet or phone.

Language: the platform is available in Romanian, English and Bulgarian. You switch it from the globe menu — the page stays the same, only the language changes.

Theme: you can choose light mode, dark mode or “System” (following your device setting). Your choice is remembered for future visits.

On a phone, tap the ☰ button in the top right corner for the full menu: navigation, language, theme and account.

3. Browsing the courses

Open “Courses” in the main menu for the full catalogue.

Search for a course by title in the search field, or filter by lecturer and press “Apply”. Use “Reset” to return to the full list.

Each card shows the title, a short description, the number of modules and lessons, and the lecturer. Scroll down — the list extends automatically.

4. A course page

Click a course to see its full structure: the description, the lecturer and the list of modules, each with its lessons.

Lessons marked with ▶ contain video material. Click any lesson to open it.

5. Watching a lesson

On the lesson page you will find the video player with the usual controls (play/pause, volume, full screen), the lesson description and, where available, additional information from the lecturer.

The “Materials” section holds downloadable files — for example PDF worksheets — with their size shown.

If you are not signed in, the message “Sign in to save your progress” appears below the video. You can still watch the lesson, but your progress will not be saved.

If you are signed in, the platform automatically saves your position in the video, resumes from where you left off on your next visit, and marks the lesson as “Completed” once you have watched almost all of it.

6. Creating an account

Press “Register” in the main menu and fill in your first name, last name, email address and a password of at least 8 characters. The account is created immediately and you are signed in automatically.

You will receive an email with a link confirming your address. Click it to verify your email — the link works only once. Verification is recommended, but you can sign in without it.

If you see the message “An account with this email already exists”, use “Sign in” or the password recovery.

7. Signing in and recovering your password

Press “Sign in” and enter your email and password.

Forgot your password? Press the link with that name below the form, enter your email address and press “Send reset link”.

You will receive an email with the reset link, valid for one hour. For security reasons, the confirmation message appears whether or not the address exists in the system.

Open the link from the email, choose your new password (at least 8 characters), confirm it and press “Save password”. You can sign in with the new password right away.

If the link has expired, start over and request a new one.

8. My account — your progress

Once signed in, open “My account” from the menu. The “Keep learning” section lists every lesson in which you have saved progress.

Each card shows the course and module, the lesson title, the status (“In progress” or “Completed”) and the date you last watched it. Click a card to go straight to the lesson, with the video starting where you left off.

If you have not started any course yet, you will see the “Browse courses” button.

9. Deleting your account

Also in “My account”, the “Delete account” section lets you close your account permanently: press “Delete account”, confirm with your password, then press “Permanently delete account”.

Careful: this action cannot be undone — your account and all learning progress are deleted permanently. The courses remain accessible without an account, but progress will no longer be saved.

10. The contact form

The “Contact” page holds the details of the partner organisations (address, opening hours, phone, email) and a form through which you can write to us directly.

Fill in your name, email, subject and message, pass the anti-spam check and press “Send message”. We will reply to the address you provided.

11. Privacy and cookies

At the bottom of every page you will find the Terms of use, the Privacy policy and the Cookie policy.

On your first visit, a banner asks for your consent to anonymous traffic statistics. You can decline without any loss of functionality and change your choice at any time.

12. Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay anything?

No. The platform and all courses are free.

Do I need an account to see the courses?

No. An account is only needed if you want the platform to remember your progress.

The video does not start. What should I do?

Check your internet connection and reload the page. If the problem persists, try another browser or write to us through the contact form.

Can I download the video lessons?

No, videos are watched on the platform. The files in the “Materials” section can be downloaded, however.

I did not receive the verification or password reset email.

Check your Spam folder. The reset link is valid for one hour — if it has expired, request a new one. If you still receive nothing, contact us.

How do I change my email address or name?

Account details cannot currently be changed from the platform. Write to us through the contact form and we will help you.

I deleted my account by mistake. Can I recover it?

No — deletion is permanent. You can create a new account with the same email address at any time, but the previous progress cannot be recovered.

Didn't find what you were looking for?
